What does Baylor University stand for?

Baylor University (BU) is a private, Christian university in Waco, Texas. It was established in 1845 and is associated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Not only is it the oldest university in Texas with ongoing educational programs, but it is also the largest Baptist university campus in the world, with a land area spanning about 1,000 acres.

The university has 12 academic units with a total of 128 undergraduate programs, 77 graduate programs, and 46 post-graduate programs. Some of its nationally ranked programs are in Law, Entrepreneurship, Biology, Psychology, Nursing, Education, and Engineering.

As a Baptist institution, Baylor University strives to integrate the Christian faith with its academic and research programs. The school's motto is Pro Ecclesia, Pro Texana (For Church, For Texas); students learn to advocate for progress in society as stewards of Christ. Despite being a Christian university, Baylor welcomes and caters to a diverse community, with students coming from different cultural and religious backgrounds. With this diversity, students are given the opportunity to see and to understand the world through different perspectives.
