Beihang University or Beihang is a public research university in Beijing, China, known for its programs in science and technology and engineering. It was founded in 1952 as the Beijing Institute of Aeronautics merging eight aeronautical departments of Amoy (Xiamen), Peiyang, Sichuan, Tsinghua, and Yunnan universities. The university was changed to its present name in 1988. Today, Beihang is designated as a Class A (first-rate) university by China's Ministry of Education.
Beihang University has 59 undergraduate and 59 graduate programs. It has courses in the following areas: aeronautics, engineering, foreign language, chemistry, software, artificial intelligence, and economics and management.
There are more than 29,000 students studying at Beihang and about 6% of this population are international students. The school ranks 462th in the 2019 World University Rankings and 20th in Mailand China.
