What does Boston College stand for?

Established in 1863, the Boston College (commonly known as "The Heights") is a private Catholic university located in Chestnut Hill, MA. The university was founded by the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) with an aim to educate the Boston's Irish Catholic immigrants. At present, the institution aims to be the premier university in Liberal Arts; in line with their commitment to uphold their Jesuit, Catholic mission of faith and service.

The Boston College is home for eight (8) schools/colleges that primarily focuses on Arts, Sciences, Management, Education, Social Sciences, and Theology. And some of the most popular undergraduate majors in this prestigious university include degrees in Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Psychology, and Nursing. All of these programs are inspired by the Jesuits traditions and directed towards the students' overall development.

Although regarded as a Catholic institution, the Boston College celebrates diversity by opening its doors to students of different faith traditions. And as a Jesuit, Catholic university, the mission is to create an academic environment where knowledge, truth, and service serve as the core attributes of what it's like to be considered as an academically excellent institution.
