Georgia Institute of Technology (also known as Geogia Tech) is a public research university founded in 1885 as the beginning of the transformation from agrarian South to industrial economy in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1948, the school’s name was changed to the Georgia Institute of Technology to reflect a growing focus on advanced technological and scientific research. There are satellite campuses in France, Ireland, Singapore, and China, as well.
Georgia Tech has six colleges and contains 31 departments focusing on science and technology. Its highly ranked graduate schools include the College of Engineering and Scheller College of Business.
