What does Kyushu Institute of Technology stand for?


Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech) is a public education institution located in Fukuoka, Japan. Kyutech was founded in 1907 as  Meiji College of Technology, a private school for engineers. After several changes in its organization, Meiji College of Education was changed into Kyushu Institute of Technology in 1949. It has three campuses: Tobata, Iizuka, and Wakamatsu.

Today, Kyutech is known for its science and technology programs. The institute offers undergraduate and graduate courses in Engineering, Computer Science and Systems Engineering, and Life Science and Systems Engineering.

There are currently more than 5,600 students enrolled at Kyutech and over 300 are international students from 36 countries all over the world. As Kyushu Institute of Technology continues to strengthen its curriculum, it also consistently ranks high in various ranking organizations such as the Times Higher Education (THE). Kyutech placed 24th in 2018 THE Japan University rankings.

  • Kyutech has a high rate of continuing education where about 60% of its undergraduate students go to graduate school.
     
  • As of 2018, Kyutech undergraduate alumni have an employability rate of 99.3 %. A big number of this population joined some of the world's leading companies such as Honda, Mitsubishi, Hitatchi, Nissan, TOYOTA, Canon, etc.
     
  • Kyutech has partnership various overseas universities such as the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Malaysia), University of Surrey (UK), Old Dominion University (USA), and the University of Texas at El Paso (USA).
