What does Kyushu University stand for?


Kyushu University, formerly known as Kyushu Imperial University, is an educational institution in Japan. Founded in 1911, it has a total of six campuses in the country (Ito, Hakozaki, Ohashi, Beppu, Chikushi, and a Hospital campus).

The University has a total of 12 undergraduate schools and 18 graduate schools and offers programs in the fields of science, education, law, business, medicine, engineering, agriculture, design, and humanities. 

Kyushu University has been recognized as one of the top universities worldwide. It is ranked 126th in the QS World University Rankings and in the top 500 universities in the THE World University Rankings

  • Fourth Imperial University to be established
  • One of Japan's National Seven Universities
  • Some notable alumni include Dr. Hakaru Hashimoto, discoverer the chronic thyroid disorder, chronic thyroiditis, which became known as “Hashimoto's disease”; and former Minister of State for Financial Services and Postal Reform Shozaburo Jimi.
