    Educational Qualifications
    Applicants must fulfill one of the following conditions at the time of application.

    • Applicants who have completed or are scheduled to complete a graduate (master's) degree.
    • Applicants who have completed or are scheduled to complete a graduate (master's) degree outside Japan.
    • Applicants who are 24 years of age and have been individually screened by the graduate school to have the academic ability of a postgraduate level or higher.

    Language Proficiency
    As English is the language of instruction in all graduate classes at APU, applicants must possess the ability to comprehend lectures, undertake independent research and produce well written reports in English
    • TOEFL® iBT Test: 80

    • TOEIC® Test: 780
    • PTE Academic: 50
     
    *The following are exempt from having to provide scores proving English proficiency, but clear documented proof must be included with the application. Proof may be in the form of an official letter from the institution or any other official document such as a transcript indicating the language of instruction. 
    • Applicants who can certify that they have graduated or are scheduled to graduate from a bachelor's course offered in English.
    • Applicants who can certify that they have been educated exclusively in English for at least six years of their formal education from high school level or above.
    • Applicants from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States.

    • 3.Applicants who have completed a 15-year standard education curriculum outside Japan and academic achievement are determined to be outstanding by the University.
    • 4.Applicants who are 22 years of age and have been individually screened by the graduate school to have the academic ability of a university graduate or higher.

  • Transfer Undergraduate Admission Requirements (International Students)

    Education
    Applicants must have completed or be scheduled to complete one of the following educational criteria before admission to APU.
    Second Year Transfer*

    • Have completed 13 years of official education based on a standard course curriculum by the time of enrollment
    • Have completed their first year of studies at a university in Japan and completed at least 30 credits by the time of enrollment
    *To transfer credits, applicants must have acquired at least one fourth of the credits needed to graduate from their current university OR have graduated from a two-year college/technical college by the time of enrollment to APU.
    Third Year Transfer*
    • Have completed 14 years of official education based on a standard course curriculum by the time of enrollment
    • Have completed their second year of studies at a a university in Japan and completed at least 60 credits by the time of enrollment
    *To transfer credits, applicants must have acquired at least one fourth of the credits needed to graduate from their current university OR have graduated from a two-year college/technical college by the time of enrollment.
    Language Proficiency

  • First Year Undergraduate Admission Requirements (International Students)

    Education
    Applicants must have completed or be scheduled to complete one of the following educational criteria before admission to APU.

    • Applicants must have completed all the requirements of a 12-year standard education system.
    • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have obtained one of the following qualifications:
      • International Baccalaureate (awarded by the International Baccalaureate Organization)
      • Abitur (issued from Federal Republic of Germany for college entrance)
      • Baccalaureate Diploma (issued from the French Republic for college entrance)
    • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have completed their studies at Japanese pre-university preparatory institutions, preparatory schools outside of Japan for students planning to study in Japan or Japanese secondary school. If you have other education qualifications, please send your inquiries to the Admissions Office before applying.
    Language Proficiency
