Ritsumeikan University is a private university in Kyoto, Japan. The university traces it roots to the foundation of the private academy, Ritsumeikan in 1869 by Prince Kinmochi Saionji. Today, the university is one of the leading institutions in Japan. It has three campuses, the Kinugasa Campus (KIC), Biwako-Kusatsu Campus (BKC), and Osaka-Ibaraki Campus (OIC).
Ritsumeikan University is known for its programs in engineering and international relations. Aside from these programs, the university also offers courses in Law, Social Sciences, International Relations, Policy Science, Sociology, Business, Management, Economics, Design, Arts and Science and a lot more through its colleges and institutes. Because of the its high-quality programs, more and more students want to join the university. At present, the university has approximately 36,000 students and around 2,400 are international students.
Since its establishment, the university has received a number of accreditations from different academic organizations. In 2018 alone, Ritsumeikan University was accredited by the Japan University Accreditation Association (JUAA). JUAA also highlighted the university's strength in Internal Quality Assurance.
