What does University of Florida stand for?


University of Florida (UF) is a public educational institution in the United States. Founded in 1853, it was originally a school owned by James Henry Roper. He offered the school to the State of Florida in 1866 in exchange for the relocation of the East Florida Seminary to Gainesville.

UF has 16 total colleges that offer undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs in the fields of medicine, science, liberal arts, law, engineering, education, business, agriculture, and arts.

For more than 160 years, UF has continued to push the boundaries of knowledge and pursued greater heights for research and innovation for the betterment of Florida and the world.
