What does University of Oxford stand for?


University of Oxford, located in the United Kingdom, is the oldest university in the English-speaking world. It has no clear date of foundation but teaching at Oxford existed at around 1090's. 

The University offers undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs through their four academic divisions: Medical Sciences Division, Humanities Division, Social Sciences Division, and Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division. Under these divisions are roughly 100 major academic departments

  • One of its museums, the Ashmolean Museum, is the oldest museum in the UK and one of the oldest in the world.

  • Called as the "city of dreaming spires" by Victorian poet, Matthew Arnold.
