What does University of Tsukuba stand for?


The University of Tsukuba is a public national university in Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan. The school was founded in 1973 although its roots can be traced back to the establishment of Tokyo Normal School in 1873, making it one of the oldest universities in Japan. 

The university is one of the leading education institutions in Japan. It ranked 270th in the QS Global World University Rankings. Because of this high ranking, the university's entrance examination is highly competitive with an overall difficulty of A1 or 2 on a 10-point scale.

The University of Tsukuba offers a number of programs in various fields including humanities, international studies, human sciences, environmental science, engineering, informatics, and medical science. At present, the university population consists of more than 16,000 enrolled students and over 2,000 academic faculty staff.
