Changing its name six times to reflect their education status,
Visayas State University (VSU) started as an agricultural school on June 1924 through a provincial board resolution. The said university is part of the three
Zonal Agricultural Universities in the country namely Visayas State University (VSU);
Central Mindanao University (CMU); and
Central Luzon State University (CLSU). The university currently houses 9 agricultural research and training institutes.
With
agriculture as its
core degree, Visayas State University offers a ladderized program in
Animal Science. VSU also provides bachelor degrees in
Agribusiness, Agricultural Chemistry, Agricultural Engineering, Biology, Agronomy, and
other agriculture-related courses. Meanwhile, there are also non-agriculture courses such as
Engineering, Tourism Management, Development Communication, Nursing, and
Education. The state university also has a
senior high school program and an
open university. Interested professionals may also take graduate programs in
Agricultural Science, Management, and
Education in this institution.
