They say that the best things in life are free. If it were so, then scholarships might as well be included in the list!

Having good education comes with a price because the sad reality is that not everyone gets an opportunity to attend formal schooling #sadt. Some would have to juggle multiple job shifts to make ends meet, while others settle for courses and schools that are more affordable even if these were not their first choices. Good thing though, this is where a scholarship comes in and saves the day!

There are PLENTY of scholarships for students like you. Though these programs vary in terms of eligibility and requirements, it can give you a shot at free tuition, allowances or both! All you have to do is look around, find which one fits you best, and muster the courage to apply.

For starters, here are 10 scholarships you should consider:

Senior High School (SHS) Scholarships

Academic Achievement in High School and Elementary Grades

Arellano University (Plaridel Campus) knows how to reward hard work! This private, co-ed university offers merit-based scholarships for individuals who excel in their academics. Just by graduating at the top of your class, you can score discounts as you enter Senior High! (so yes, there’s more to grades than just bragging rights)

  • Highest average grade- 100% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees
  • Second average grade- 50% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees
  • Third average grade- 25% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees

Br. Rafael S. Donatos, FSC Financial Assistance Program for Senior High School

Motivated by the mission to make education inclusive and accessible to everyone, De La Salle- Lipa (DLSL) provides a needs-based scholarship for qualified students who graduated from National High Schools. DLSL offers SHS strands in Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strands under the SHS Academic Track.

50% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees

Edukasyon.ph Scholarship

In partnership with the Ayala Foundation Inc., this scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to incoming Grade 11 students. All you have to do is to complete the online application form, bring your Grade 10 report card (grades above 83% please!), a 1×1 photo, proof of acceptance from school and you’re all set! Amaaazing, right?

Partial tuition discount

 

GAS/HUMSS School Assistance Program

If you live around the Makati City neighborhood and are stoked to pursue either General Academic  strand (GAS) or Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand in Senior High, then this scholarship is perf for you! St. Mary of the Woods School provides tuition and financial assistance to financially-challenged but deserving incoming GAS and HUMSS students who are children of OFW parents/guardian.

  • Free school supplies every semester
  • Free school bus service (for specific areas only)
  • Uniform allowance
  • Online learning modules

 

SM Foundation Scholarships

Through the MFI Polytechnic Institute Inc., the Meralco Foundation continues to support students through financial assistance that will enable students to have access to quality education and training for technology-related courses and agriculture.

What’s in it for me?

  • Php 20, 000 annual stipend

 

College Scholarships

 

HERO R.E.A.C.H (Rise, Empower, Aspire, Commit & Honor) Program

As a thank you to our real-life heroes, the HERO Foundation extends full college scholarship to all qualified military orphans. This non-stock, not-for-profit organization which stands for Help Educate and Rear Orphans actively partners with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), through the AFP-Educational Benefit System Office (AFP-EBSO), and the families of the soldiers.

NBS Academic Scholarships

The newly-established NBS College (read: est. 2017) opens its doors to incoming college students with a merit-based scholarship. Inspired by founder Socorro Cancio-Ramos’ passion for education and the youth, the college envisions to produce great leaders and professionals who will uplift the Philippines at par with other countries.

PCAFPD Undergraduate Scholarships

With over 200 scholars over the years, the Peace Corps Alumni Foundation for Philippine Development (PCAFPD) continues to produce leaders from the engineering and architecture industry to midwifery and community development sector through supporting students’ tuition and financial assistance. This scholarship prioritizes students from the Top 10% of their graduating class and with family incomes below the poverty line.

Simplicio Gamboa Sr., Foundation College & Vocational Educational Scholarship

Committed to its vision of “providing opportunity for a better life for the youth through education”, the Simplicio Gamboa Sr. Foundation offers scholarships for aspiring but underprivileged young students in the NCR and Negros region.

SUTD Global Leadership Programme Scholarship
