About the Scholarship

OWWA scholarship aims to protect and promote the welfare and well-being of Overseas Filipino Workers and their dependents. OWWA Scholarship offers scholarships and educational program for both workers and their loved ones.
OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration) offers a lot of benefits and opportunities not only to the OFW but to his or her beneficiaries as well. One program offered by OWWA to OFWs and its family is the SESP or Skills-for-Employment Program where OFWs and beneficiaries are eligible to avail.
What is SESP?
The Skills-for-Employment Scholarship Program is a scholarship program offered by OWWA for the land-based and sea-based OWWA-member OFWs and their beneficiaries. Through this program, member-OFWs and beneficiaries can avail of six months to two years vocational and technical courses at any accredited TESDA training centers.
This program is intended for those OFWs and their beneficiaries who wish to pursue technical vocational courses. The OWWA Skills for Employment Scholarship Program was made possible through the coordination of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). It is extended to OFWs, who are active OWWA members, or their dependents, to cover the expenses of taking up tech-voc courses accredited by TESDA in any training course within their respective regions.
Under the scholarship, the applicant is granted to the actual cost of training fee, with a maximum of P14,500.00 per course regardless of the duration of the training program. In the events the training fee for the applicants chosen course is above the said amount, the applicant shall bear the excess cost.
However, if the applicant wishes to pay in advance. He or she may present legal documents and official receipt of payment to the OWWA office for a refund.
Apart from tech-voc courses, the SESP also applies for any TESDA-accredited laddered baccalaureate degrees. Some of the degrees with laddered systems are BS Information Technology, BS Computer Science, BS Hospitality Management, and BS Tourism Management. The same maximum assistance of P14,500.00 applies.

Who can avail SESP?
OFWs who are active members of OWWA and their dependents are eligible to avail of the program with a financial assistance of P14,500.00. The applicant may choose his/her training course from the list of OWWA recognized training providers where he/she intends to enroll.
The applicant must be:
An active member of OWWA or a dependent of an active OWWA member. Beneficiaries shall be limited to:
  1. Vacationing OFWs (Land-based or sea-based)
  2. Finished contract workers but are still active members of OWWA
FOR MARRIED OFWs:
  1. Spouse
  2. Child (20 years old and below; not currently enrolled)
FOR SINGLE OFWs:
  1. Sister or brother (20 years old and below; not currently enrolled)
  2. Beneficiaries shall be a (1) Filipino Citizen and (2) at least elementary graduate
