Bohol Institute of Technology (BIT) was established in 1981 by a couple, Dionisio “Dioning” and Lilia Balite. Situated in a two-story ancestral house in
Tagbilaran, Bohol, BIT specialized in technical-vocational courses in its first year. Eventually,
BIT Tagbilaran expanded and had more branches in Bohol as the number of students increased. This was at the same time it was renamed into
BIT International College. The school pursues to give students more access to and opportunities in education so as to become participative members of their communities.
One of the campuses of BIT-IC is in
Siquijor as
Balite Institute of Technology. BIT Siquijor has Junior High School, Senior High School, and College programs. The Senior High School department offers the
Academic and
Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) tracks. The College department, on the other hand, currently has undergraduate programs in
Criminology, Midwifery, and
Maritime studies.
