The school was born out of compassion and started out small in a two-story ancestral house with only 15 faculty members and 520 students who enrolled in technical-vocational courses. On the second year, they expanded with an increase in enrollees and staff, so they built additional two-story buildings (the BIT Annex). BIT has become a consortium of schools in Jagna, Talibon, and Carmen. BIT was erected in other towns like Butuan and Siquijor.
BIT School System offers levels starting from first grade up until the postgraduate years through the graduate school and the College of Law. BIT offers engineering, computer science, industrial technology, midwifery, nursing, radiologic technology, criminology, maritime, business and accountancy, hotel and restaurant management, teacher education, and arts and sciences. There are six schools: BIT IC-Tagbiliran, BIT IC-Jagna, BIT IC-Talibon, BIT IC-Carmen, BIT IC-Siquijor, and Balite Institute of Technology.
