This master degree provides you with the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to become an innovative and competent occupational therapist.
With a strong focus on practical skills, you will complete a substantial 1,000 hours of clinical field placements during your studies. This real-world experience will constitute a large portion of your learning. It is here that you will gain valuable practical skills that will enable a seamless transition from study to the workforce. Important industry connections will be made during these clinical placements.
Patient outcomes are also a focus and therefore communication and relationship skills essential for patient care are key components.
All students enrolled in a program leading to professional registration must be registered with the relevant National Board. The registration process is undertaken by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with the University providing notification to AHPRA following enrolment in the program.
All students in the Division of Health Sciences who undertake activities where interaction with patients/the public is required for their degree, such as field or clinical placements/visits and in University clinics and gyms, must obtain a current National Police Clearance and a Current National Criminal History Record Check (Child-Related Clearance) from the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI). This certificate is valid for the duration of the program.

Occupational therapists assist people in managing physical constraints caused by injury or illness, as well as emotional, developmental, environmental, societal, age-related and psychological limitations, such as autism and dementia.
