Senior High School: How Can it Help Me?
With the additional two years of education for Senior High School, a lot of people are wondering on what benefits can students get from Senior High School. How can it help students prepare better for college? How can it help students get jobs? How can it help students select the careers they will embark on?
The Senior High School was created to prepare students for three things, namely, College, Entrepreneurship, and Jobs. Here are a few possibilities that Senior High School can realize for you as a student.
1. SHS graduates are better equipped for work
For those who opted to study under the Technical-Vocational Track, they will be ready to apply for TESDA Certificates.
Private companies are willing to accept graduates for immersion, (work and study experience), training, and hiring.
2. Entrepreneurship
Graduates possess the skills necessary to start a business or to help manage the family’s business.
3. Advancement in Higher Education
Some core subjects being offered in college or university have been taken up in SHS providing more subjects relevant to one’s chosen course.
4. Middle Skills Development
Students who finished SHS under the Technical-Vocational Livelihood Track will possess the specialized skills required for self-employment or those applying for work. For each grade level under the Technical-Vocational Livelihood Track, a National Certificate (NC) equivalent from TESDA is given to the student that qualifies him to work both locally and abroad.
Further education in technical-vocational institutions after SHS means taking more advanced courses to enhance one’s knowledge and skills in the public knowledge and skills in the fields of technology and livelihood.
