At the foot of Mt. Tabungao lies the campus of
Cagayan State University – Gonzaga (CSU - Gonzaga). When the institution was founded in the school year of 1947-1948, it was originally known as Gonzaga Junior High School. Over the years, it would adapt to the needs of the surrounding community and begin formulating a curriculum centered on agricultural education. By 1962, it would change its name to the Gonzaga National and Vocational School. Finally, after the Charter of Cagayan State University (P.D. No. 1436), it would become one of the satellite campuses of the
Cagayan State University (CSU) system.
The Gonzaga campus has six colleges, namely: the
College of Teacher Education, College of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accountancy, College of Agriculture, College of Criminal Justice Administration, College of Hospitality Industry Management, and
College of Information and Computing Sciences. Eight (8) of their undergraduate programs are already candidates for accreditation by the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).
