Samar State University - Paranas (SSU-Paranas) is a government-owned university operating under the
Samar State University system. Interestingly, the campus was the last educational institution to be integrated into the system. It was only in 2004 when the Samar State Polytechnic College (now
Samar State University) was converted into a state university, by the virtue of
Republic Act 9313, that the Wright Vocational School (now
SSU - Paranas) was established as one of the SSU's campuses.
This integration led to the improvement of technical-vocational education programs and training in the campus. At present, the campus offers the
BS in Industrial Technology with five different majors in
Electrical, Automotive, Drafting, Foods, and
Garments. This gives the students a wide variety of options on what major in the field to specialize on. Aside from this, undergraduate programs in
Elementary and
Secondary Education are also offered to students who are looking to have productive careers as teachers in elementary and high schools.
