University of the Visayas-Gullas College Toledo Branch  

University of the Visayas (UV) is a private institution in Cebu with extensions in Banilad and Lapu-Lapu. It was founded as the Visayan Institute by Don Vicente Gullas in 1919. Visayan Institute was granted university status and was renamed as the University of the Visayas in 1948 and thus becoming the first university in Cebu. It has several satellite campuses in Pardo, Mandaue, Minglanilla, Toledo, Compostela, Dalaguete, and Danao in the region of Cebu. It also conducted the “study now, pay later plan” practice before it was adopted by the then Department of Education, Culture, and Sports (now the Department of Education). 

UV enrolls students in basic education, senior high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels. It offers programs in teacher education, business, engineering, information technology, computer science, criminology, communication & information science, science, social science, tourism, hospitality & culinary management, architecture, medicine, and humanities. It also houses a postgraduate law program. Another program that UV offers to its students is the Expanded Tertiary Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP). It is an educational assessment scheme which recognizes excellent skills of students with or without educational experience. With the guidance of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), the authorized colleges of UV that can offer ETEEAP degrees are Business Administration, Criminology, Engineering, Architecture, and Graduate School.
