La Salle University (LSU), or formally known as La Salle University Ozamis, is a Catholic university located at Ozamis City, Misamis Occidental. The history of the university can be traced back to the series of Catholic missions made possible by the collective efforts of the Jesuits, Recollects, Columban missionaries, and Christian brothers.

In 1884, Fr. Constancio Arsenio, a Recollect priest, opened a parochial school and was called as the Immaculate Conception School wherein classes were classified as the Cartilla, the Misterio, the Tresagia, and the Novena. Then in 1919, the Jesuits returned to Misamis and replaced the Recollects. The Jesuits formally opened the school's elementary program in 1929, wherein thirty (30) pupils were enrolled. Consequently, the opening of the elementary program commences the formal founding of the Immaculate Conception School. The Jesuits then replaced by the Society of St. Columban, which eventually results in the opening of the high school department. But then the war broke out and the high school program was discontinued. It was only by June 1948 when Mother Mary Theopane Fortune opened the college department with eighteen (18) students and formally changed the name of the school to Immaculate Conception College. And by 1994, the school supervision was turned over to the De La Salle Brothers and was named as Immaculate Conception College - La Salle. Finally, the college gained its university status from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on July 10, 2006, and formally changing its name to La Salle University.
